Set up and manage MessageBank for home and business – Telstra
To control and configure Telstra MessageBank from your phone, here’s a comprehensive guide:
How do I know if a message was left?
Take the phone off-hook or turn on hands-free / SpeakerPhone.
Listen to the dial tone. If it sounds “chopped up” then one or more messages have been left.
Accessing Voicemail
- Dial 101 to access the MessageBank.
- Follow the voice prompts to listen to messages, change greetings, or manage settings.
- If messages are present, then it will start playing the 1st message.
- If you do not press any key, Message Bank will keep playing all messages sequentially.
- Press 1 before the message completes to listen to the message again.
- Press 5 to delete the message. Message bank will automatically play the next message.
- Press 6 to listen to the next message.
- When finished listening to messages (and deleting them), just hang up.
Managing MessageBank
The items listed below should not need changes on a routine basis.
1. Changing The Greeting
- Call 101.
- Press 3 for Mailbox Setup.
- Press 1 for Greetings.
- Press 1 again to re-record the personal greeting.
- Press 1 once more to start the recording
- Speak the appropriate message:

Please leave a message and we will return your call.
Speak slowly and repeat your name and phone number after the beep.

The system will now re-play the greeting. - Press 2 to keep the greeting and hang up — OR —
- Press 1 to re-record the greeting.
2. Adjusting Ring Time Before Voicemail
- Dial 61101[number of seconds]#** (e.g., 6110130#** for 30 seconds).
- Press Call. You’ll get a confirmation message.
- You can set the ring time to 15, 20, 25, or 30 seconds.
3. Turning MessageBank On or Off
- Via Dial Codes:
- To turn on MessageBank: Dial *99# and press Call.
- To turn off MessageBank: Dial **9# and press Call. (Do not do this.)
4. Changing Your PIN (Do not set or change the PIN.)
- Call 101.
- Press 9 for the main menu.
- Press 3 for the setup menu.
- Press 3 for the PIN change menu.
- Press 1 to change the PIN or 2 for security settings.
5. Managing Call Forwarding to MessageBank (Do not use this.)
- Divert when unanswered: 61101**[seconds]# (e.g., 61101**30#)
- Divert when unreachable: 62101#
- Divert when busy: 67101#
- Divert all calls: 21101#
- Cancel diversions: Use #61#, #62#, #67#, or #002# as needed.
